Supports

available

Literacy & Numeracy

All our courses at Sligo CTC are supported with literacy and numeracy. While these supports are integrated with the vocational training modules, learners identified as having additional requirements in literacy and numeracy are offered one to one classes. Tuition is provided in a supportive environment to those who need to develop their skills in reading, writing, spelling and maths.

Language Support

Assistance is provided in the form of individual language support classes to those for whom English is not their first language. The primary goal of language support is to help the learner acquire the ability to speak, read and write in English and therefore partake fully on their course.

Counselling

The centre provides a counselling service available to all learners. The counsellor works with learners to resolve both personal and interpersonal problems. Issues addressed include stress, anxiety, bereavement, sadness, communication difficulties, substance abuse etc. Referrals to other agencies are provided where necessary.

“What I provide in the centre is to work with the learners to try and make their experience the best it can be.”
