Rith 2016 is a national festival that will take place between the 4th and 14th March 2016 as one of the main events of Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish language week). A 700km course has been laid out for a massive relay-race run, running from morning to night, from Cill Droichead (Celbridge) in Kildare, around the country to finish at the GPO on O Connell Street, Dublin.
A special hand-carved baton has been designed that will carry a hidden message throughout Rith 2016. At the end of the run, the message of support for the Irish language will be read out.
This event is taking place in Sligo on Thursday 10th March. There are four parts and anyone can run on any part of the course.  Sligo CTC is registered to take part in this event and Ryan and Fiach will be carrying the baton.  It is starting at 1pm on Thursday 10th March from Cleveragh (Argos Car Park) and finishes up at the I.T., Ballinode.  For more info go to www.rith.ie
